A Diane Arbus Inspired Photographic Perspective of Wakefield School
Diane Arbus was a black-and-white street photographer who mainly captured portraits and candid shots of everyday people, often those overlooked by the vast majority of society. Through her use of a Rolleiflex camera and flash, Arbus's black-and-white photography conveys emotion through her story-telling lens. It is conducive to portraying one's subjects in an authentic and unadulterated way. Her images capture the essence of photography: the ability to connect with the audience through her black and white photographs that tell the subjects' stories through a single image. The stories of the Wakefield community—its students, faculty, and staff—need to be preserved and shared to show what life at Wakefield is truly like.
